Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma flagged off 219 new police vehicles to enhance law enforcement capability in the state. The vehicles were procured under the Assistance to States and Union Territories for Modernisation of Police (ASUMP) scheme to strengthen mobility, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service delivery across the state.
Flagging off the vehicles in Aizawl’s Mualpui area, Mr Lalduhoma said procurement of vehicles under the Police Modernisation Scheme had remained suspended since 2017, creating transportation challenges for the police force. He credited the restoration of the programme to sustained efforts by the state government and police department.
