Met Office warns of more rains; 39 NDRF teams deployed in four States, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted Extremely heavy rainfall activity over Northeast India and adjoining East India during next three days. The IMD forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Meghalaya and Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Bihar during the period. It stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh tomorrow and day after.

The weather agency also informed that Intense rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas of north Punjab and Haryana will decrease significantly from tomorrow. It added, heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during next five days.

Meanwhile, National Disaster Response Force NDRF is undertaking rescue operations in different states which are affected by heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides. 39 teams of the Force are deployed in four states. 14 teams of NDRF are in Punjab, 12 in Himachal Pradesh, eight in Uttarakhand, and five teams in Haryana.
