The Meteorological Department predicted that Jammu and Kashmir would witness generally hot and humid weather over the next 10 days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that according to the forecast, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are expected at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours from today to August 30.

The weather is likely to remain generally hot and humid on August 31 and September 1, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places. Brief intense showers are also possible during the early morning and afternoon hours. From September 2 to 7, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours. The weather department has cautioned that brief intense showers at localised places on August 31 and September 1 may trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.

It advised farmers to continue harvesting and other agricultural operations while keeping local weather conditions in view. Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 29.3°C and a minimum of 16.7°C on Friday. Jammu city recorded a maximum of 34.6°C and a minimum of 24.3°C. The MeT department said people, particularly those living in vulnerable areas, should remain alert during periods of intense rainfall.
