Meghalaya Cabinet clears amendment to Meghalaya Forest Authority Act, 1991

The Meghalaya Cabinet has cleared an amendment to the Meghalaya Forest Authority Act, 1991, to improve coordination between the state forest department and the Autonomous District Councils in forest protection and management.

 

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the amendment will allow the Meghalaya Forest Authority to utilise government funds for its functioning. The decision is aimed at strengthening monitoring, coordination, and collaboration among institutions involved in forest governance and conservation.
