As many as 37 pilgrims from Maharashtra who were stranded in Tibet after flash floods in Nepal departed for Kathmandu this morning. According to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the group left Saga in Tibet at around 6 am via the Nyalam check-post and is travelling safely towards the Nepalese capital. The pilgrims are from Thane, Pune, Raigad, Alibag and Dombivli.

 

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s office said the MEA promptly extended assistance to facilitate the group’s movement. Earlier, Maharashtra’s Disaster Management Department said at least 114 people from the state were stranded in the Himalayan nation, with 53 confirmed safe.
