MCD intensifies demolition  of dangerous and unauthorised buildings to prevent untoward incidents

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has intensified its drive against dangerous and unauthorised buildings to prevent untoward incidents from unsafe structures, illegal construction and misuse. Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi and MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar have directed all Zonal Deputy Commissioners to identify dangerous and dilapidated buildings, and categorise them according to the level of risk and ensure immediate action, including sealing and demolition.

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi said the Deputy Commissioners have also been directed to conduct comprehensive inspections of Paying Guest accommodations, schools, hotels and healthcare facilities to verify that all mandatory approvals, permissions and documents are in place. The MCD Commissioner directed that swift action, including sealing and demolition wherever warranted under the applicable provisions of law, must follow with buildings posing an immediate danger. Necessary action will also be taken against unauthorised and illegal constructions that compromise structural safety or pose a risk to the lives of occupants.
