Tripura joined the rest of the world in celebrating the International Day of Yoga today with mass yoga sessions and awareness programmes held across all districts of the state.
Taking part in the state-level event at Hapania in Agartala, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the importance of Yoga in promoting mental well-being, improving concentration, and leading a healthy, disease-free life. He urged young people to embrace Yoga and stay away from social evils such as drug addiction. Referring to this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the Chief Minister said regular practice of Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises helps reduce stress and strengthen overall health.
Dr. Saha also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative that led to the United Nations declaring 21st of June as the International Day of Yoga, bringing global recognition to India’s ancient tradition.
The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation across Tripura. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu led the district-level programme in Sepahijala, leading a large-scale mass yoga session. State Ministers Pranajit Singha Roy, Sudhangshu Das, and Sushanta Chowdhury attended events across the state, stressing the need to make Yoga a part of daily life for better physical and mental health.
