Manipur remembers supreme sacrifices by heroes of Anglo-Manipuri War

 
In Manipur, the Patriots’ Day is observed today remembering the supreme sacrifice made by freedom fighters especially Yuvraj Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General who were hanged by the British on this day in 1891 following the Anglo-Manipuri War. 
 
Manipur Chief Minister’s Yumnam Khemchand Singh led dignitaries and public in paying solemn floral tribute to the departed patriots at Hicham Yaicham Pat at Moirangkhom and the Temple of Thangal General at the Palace Compound in Imphal. The main event was held today at Sahid Minar Park in Imphal where two brave sons of Manipur Yuvraj Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General were hanged to death by the British. Manipur’s Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh led others in paying solemn floral tribute at Kangla Fort in Imphal and later attended the event at Sahid Minar Park.
