In Manipur, a mass public rally was organised today in Imphal demanding National Register of Citizen (NRC) 1951 be updated before the commencement of the census exercise in the State. The rally was organised collectively by fourteen civil society organisations of Manipur and participants raised slogans and displayed playcards carrying messages such as “Do not neglect Manipur, No NRC Update, No Census” and others. People from various communities took part in the rally, which began from Tiddim Road and later converged at THAU Ground in Imphal West where a public meeting was held.
