In Manipur, vehicular movements along the National Highway 37 (Imphal- Jiribam Road) has been completely cut off due to landslides in three different locations in Tamenglong district. Manipur has been witnessing torrential rainfall from the last few days, especially in hill districts.
According to police, a major landslide occurred at Shanti Khunou near CRPF camp in between Sibilong and Kaimai village under Kaimai Police Station, Tamenglong district. Other landslides occurred at Oinamlong Zero Point and Nungdolan of Tamenglong district. According to the report, it may take around three days to reconstruct a diversion road.
The vehicular movement and the security convoy for the loaded trucks from Jiribam side to Imphal has been cancelled today owing to the disastrous calamity. On the other hand, all the empty trucks coming from Imphal side heading towards Jiribam side were stranded in many locations waiting for the resumption of the traffic movement.
It may be mentioned that Imphal-Jiribam Road (NH 37) is a lifeline of Manipur that connects Assam and other States.
