Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today took an oath as President of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board at a ceremony held at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Complex in Imphal.
The Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by board members, priests, priestesses and devotees on his arrival at the temple complex. Addressing the gathering after taking the oath, Shri Khemchand said preserving culture and traditions is essential for ensuring progress and development in society. He assured that all possible efforts would be made to promote and preserve the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Emphasising the need to follow proper rules and guidelines, he said issues related to the maintenance and development of the temple complex could be taken up through discussions in board meetings.
Expressing concern over the prevailing law and order situation in the state, the Chief Minister prayed for peace and progress in Manipur. During the programme, he was felicitated by members of Kabui, Chothe and Maring communities and also planted a tree sapling in the temple complex.
