Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh advocates use of organic fertilisers at State Krishi Mela 2026

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh attended the inaugural ceremony of the two-day State Krishi Mela 2026 at the City Convention Centre in Imphal on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, greater emphasis should be placed on the use of organic fertilizers in place of chemical fertilizers and appealed to all to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers in agriculture.


The Chief Minister said the Agriculture Department is working to dedicate around 400 hectares of farmland for organic production.


The Chief Minister distributed Natural Farming Scope Certificates and felicitated the recipients of the State-Level Best Farmers Awards. He also inaugurated the Manipur Seed and Organic Certification Agency. A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the Agriculture Department and the Central Agricultural University to strengthen certification and promote natural farming.
