The Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, today felicitated Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and other Manipuri medallists and participants of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2026, who brought laurels to the State and the nation. He also distributed appointment letters to gold medallists of the 36th and 37th National Games at a programme held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal. 

 

The Chief Minister also felicitated silver medallists of the Glasgow Games, Chanambam Rishikanta Singh, Mayengbam Jadumani Singh and Sorokhaibam Bindyarani Devi, and distributed cash rewards of 20 lakh rupees to gold medallists, 15 lakh rupees to silver medallists and 10 lakh rupees to bronze medallists. The participants of the Glasgow Games were given 4 lakh rupees each. Khemchand also felicitated the coaches who accompanied the athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2026.

 

The Chief Minister also handed over appointment letters to 71 National Games gold medallists from the 36th and 37th National Games for appointment as Physical Education Teachers under the Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Government of Manipur. Appointment letters were also handed over to four athletes under Home Department and three Asian Games medallists under the Home Department. 

The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister- Losii Dikho, MLAs, Chief Secretary- Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, VC of National Sports University, Secretary of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government officials, coaches, players and others.
