Manipur: BJP President Sarda Devi files nomination for Rajya Sabha seat

BJP Manipur president A. Sarda Devi today filed her nomination paper for the upcoming Rajya Sabha Election in Manipur. The president along with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and other NDA MLAs reached Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat this morning to submit her nomination papers for the lone seat of Rajya Sabha Manipur. The Returning Officer cum Secretary of Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat received the nomination papers. 
 
So far, she is the only candidate to file nomination papers for the biennial election of Rajya Sabha. 
 
As per the notification issued by the Returning Officer, the last date for filing nominations is June 8 and scrutiny will be held on the next day. The voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 18 and counting of votes will also take place on the same day. It may be mentioned that the term of the current Rajya Sabha MP of Manipur – Leishemba Sanajaoba who represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ends on June 21.
