The main accused in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case, Bijendra Kumar Gupta, and his associate, Indrajeet Vinaykumar Singh, have been remanded to police custody till July 30 by a Bhiwandi court. Bhiwandi Deputy Commissioner of Police Pawan Bansode said the two were arrested from Samastipur in Bihar.
According to the police, Gupta had financial links with employees of the Mahim Pratran printing press in Agra. Along with his associate Sonu, he allegedly purchased the leaked question papers from the press employees by offering them cash and promises of property. The papers were allegedly smuggled out of the printing press concealed inside shoes.
Police said the accused purchased the leaked papers for 8,000 rupees and brought them to Pune and Bhiwandi, where they allegedly planned to sell them for 1.5 crore rupees. Investigators are now probing who purchased the leaked papers, how many copies were sold, and where they were distributed.
