Maharashtra’s School Education Department today signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Google for Education to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology training to more than four lakh teachers across the state over the next 18 months.
The agreement was signed in the presence of School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, who said the initiative aims to equip teachers with modern technological skills and promote AI-based learning in schools. Under the programme, selected master trainers will be trained first and will subsequently impart training to teachers across the state through the Google AI Educator Series. Mr Bhuse said the programme would be implemented free of cost by Google and would not entail any financial burden on the state government.
Minister of State for School Education Pankaj Bhoyar said the collaboration would enable teachers in government and aided schools to access world-class training in AI and digital technologies. Training content will be made available in Marathi, Hindi and English, and the initiative is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
