In Maharashtra, Jalna district has achieved a remarkable world record by bringing together 5,348 people to simultaneously create Ganesh idols using eco-friendly Shadu clay. The record-breaking initiative was held at the J.E.S. College ground in Jalna.The achievement surpassed the previous record of 3,308 participants, set in Bengaluru in August 2022.
The large-scale environmental initiative was organised under the leadership of Jalna District Collector Ashima Mattil, with coordinated efforts by the District Collectorate, Zilla Parishad, Education Department and Adwik Club.
The record has received recognition from the Guinness World Records and the Limca Book of Records.The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation through the Ganesh festival and encourage citizens to embrace eco-friendly Ganesh idols made from Shadu clay, helping reduce the environmental impact associated with traditional idol-making materials.
