Maharashtra issues heavy rain alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar

The Maharashtra Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Palghar and Thane districts over the next three hours, urging citizens to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

Heavy showers have been reported from western suburbs, including Goregaon, Jogeshwari, Malad, Borivali and Mulund, and eastern suburbs such as Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla. Waterlogging has been reported from several low-lying areas.

Heavy showers in the eastern and western suburbs have disrupted traffic, slowing vehicular movement on several roads. Central Railway services are also running 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule due to the weather conditions. A heavy downpour in Navi Mumbai and Thane has also caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas, affecting normal traffic movement.
