Maharashtra integrates Mahasarathi Family ID with DigiLocker to enable seamless digital access for citizens

Nearly 14 crore residents of Maharashtra will now be able to securely access, store and share their Mahasarathi (Family ID) digitally anytime, anywhere, as the state has integrated the credential with DigiLocker, the Government of India’s flagship digital document wallet under the Digital India programme.

The integration enables seamless two-way functionality between Mahasarathi and DigiLocker. Citizens who already possess a Mahasarathi (Family ID) can fetch and store the credentials in their DigiLocker accounts. Eligible residents can also digitally apply for a new Family ID through DigiLocker by providing consent.

The Mahasarathi (Family ID) serves as Maharashtra’s foundational household identifier and facilitates access to government services, welfare schemes and citizen benefits. The integration is expected to promote paperless governance, reduce dependence on physical documents and simplify service delivery across the state.
