Maharashtra government approves Agri-Hackathon as permanent state-wide scheme

In order to accelerate the use of modern technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation in agriculture, the Maharashtra government has approved the Agri-Hackathon as a permanent state-wide scheme. The initiative aims to encourage the development of practical, technology-driven solutions to address the unique agricultural challenges faced across the state’s nine agro-climatic zones.

Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne said that, in line with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ announcement, the competition’s top award will be instituted in the name of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The winner will receive a cash prize of 25 lakh rupees, while the runner-up will be awarded 15 lakh rupees every year.

As part of the competition, annual problem statements based on key challenges in the agricultural sector will be identified to encourage participants to develop innovative and practical solutions. The selected technologies will then undergo field trials during the Kharif season to assess their effectiveness under real farming conditions.
