Ganeshotsav celebrations in Pune have reached a high point, with large numbers of devotees visiting prominent Ganesh mandals across the city. Devotees from Pune and neighbouring areas are turning up in large numbers to seek darshan of the five revered Ganpatis and to view the elaborate tableaux prepared by various public Ganesh mandals. Crowds are particularly heavy in the central parts of the city during the evening, resulting in traffic congestion on several major roads.
In view of the large turnout, Pune Police have made elaborate security arrangements. Around 7,500 police personnel and 700 officers have been deployed for security and crowd management. CCTV cameras and artificial intelligence-based surveillance systems are also being used to monitor the crowds. Traffic diversions have been implemented on several major roads in central Pune to ensure smooth movement of vehicles.
Public transport is also witnessing increased demand during the festival. Pune Metro has recorded a significant rise in passenger numbers. Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements are being made for the Ganesh immersion procession scheduled for September 25. The Pune Municipal Corporation has kept ambulances and medical teams ready to meet any emergency.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to follow security and traffic guidelines and celebrate Ganeshotsav peacefully and safely.
