Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today launched the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan 2.0 in Nashik. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister called for collective efforts to achieve sustainable rural development, with a special focus on water conservation and drought prevention. He assured that the state government would provide the necessary funds for water conservation projects.
Mr. Fadnavis stressed the need to desilt village ponds, repair check dams and promote rainwater harvesting. He said drinking water must be given top priority, along with ensuring adequate water for livestock and the upcoming rabi crop season. He also assured support for fodder availability and farmers affected by adverse weather conditions.
Speaking at the event, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore said the first phase saw the participation of 5,644 gram panchayats. It also witnessed the issuance of 69.13 lakh Ayushman cards and the completion of 2,706 kilometres of roads, besides progress in housing, sanitation and water-recharge projects.
During the programme, the Chief Minister felicitated outstanding Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis and Gram Panchayats for their performance in 2025-26. Nashik, Pune and Sangli topped the Zilla Parishad category, while Adachiwadi village in Pune district secured first place among Gram Panchayats. Several public representatives, senior officials and village heads from across Maharashtra attended the event.
