Maharashtra is celebrating Dahi Handi festival with traditional fervour. A number of Govinda groups are preparing human pyramids for dahi handi at various suburban areas in Mumbai including Warli, Dadar, Jogeshwari, Andheri, Parel, and Thane among others. Many ladies groups are also forming these human pyramids.  In Mumbai, prizes worth lakhs of rupees are announced by organisers for the Govinda groups. Maharashtra government has provided insurance to around 75 thousand Govindas.

Govinda's enthusiasm has reached its peak to break the handi by building high layers during the dahi handi festival in Mumbai and Thane amidst heavy rain.

Jai Jawan Govinda Mandal of Jogeswari Mumbai saluted by forming nine tiers record at the famous Sanskriti Pratishthan Dahi handi by of MLA Pratap Saranaik at Vartak Nagar in Thane city and won a prize of 11 lakhs.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde who visited a famous Dahi Handi event at his hometown in Thane said that like Govinda groups, the state government is also laying layers of development in the state.

He also expressed the belief that even if all the parties in the country are coming together against PM Modi, it will not have any impact on people's trust in the current Government at the centre. He said that Modiji will break all the winning records at Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
