Maharashtra: At least 5 killed, 21 injured in Amravati district

In Maharashtra, at least 5 people were killed and 21 others injured when a truck collided with a tempo on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway near Dhamangaon Railway in Amravati district in the wee hours of this morning.
 
The tempo was carrying devotees who were travelling from Shegaon to Wardha with an idol of Goddess Durga when it collided with the truck.
 
The injured were initially shifted to the Dhamangaon Rural Hospital. Some of them were later referred to the Medical College Hospital in Wardha for further treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.
 
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. Amravati Superintendent of Police Niketan Kadam visited the hospital and took stock of the condition of the injured. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the accident.
