Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today assured tribal communities displaced by development projects that the government would resolve pending rehabilitation issues and provide better infrastructure and employment opportunities.
Speaking at an event in Palghar where land record certificates were distributed to project-affected persons, the Chief Minister said development must benefit local communities and should not leave them landless or exclude them from employment opportunities.
He acknowledged that several families displaced over the past three to five decades continued to face rehabilitation problems. The government has formulated new rehabilitation standards and is working to resolve pending cases, he said.
Mr Fadnavis also said the government aims to make Palghar one of Maharashtra’s five most developed districts, stressing that tribals, farmers, agricultural labourers, women and economically weaker sections must be included in the development process.
