The Maha Kumbabishekam ceremony of the famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple was held after seventeen years with religious fervour in Madurai today. The ceremonies began today with priests performing pujas across the 12 gopurams by pouring holy water.

State Minister C.T.R.Nirmal Kumar participated in the event today. Thousands of devotees witnessed the ceremony. Food will be served to about 50 thousand devotees at the historic event of Maha Kumbabhishekam. Security was tightened in and around the Meenakshi temple.
