Madhya Pradesh’s first international flight service will begin from Indore today. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will flag off the first direct flight from Indore to Abu Dhabi. The service is being launched under the state’s Civil Aviation Policy 2025.
The Air India Express flight will operate four days a week- Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The new service will benefit passengers from Indore and the Malwa-Nimar region. Until now passengers had to travel through Delhi or Mumbai to reach Abu Dhabi. The journey usually took seven to eight hours. The new direct flight will reduce the travel time to about three hours and fifteen minutes.
The new air service is expected to boost trade, investment, tourism and industrial activities. The state government says it is expanding air connectivity under the Civil Aviation Policy 2025. So far eight new air routes have been approved under the policy. Flight services have already started on four routes. Services on the remaining routes are expected to begin soon.
The government says the Indore-Abu Dhabi flight will also pave the way for more international and domestic air services from the state.
