The Madhya Pradesh government has taken major action in the suspected poisonous and illegal liquor case in Sagar. On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, three excise officials have been suspended. Another official has been removed from the district and attached to the headquarters. The Chief Minister said that no person found guilty in the case will be spared.
Ten deaths have been confirmed so far after people allegedly consumed suspected poisonous liquor in Banda tehsil of Sagar district. According to Collector Pratibha Pal around 35 people were brought to hospitals. Some of them are still in serious condition. Initial post-mortem reports suggest possible consumption of methyl alcohol. Screening is being carried out in the affected villages.
The administration has sealed some liquor shops as a precaution and ordered the collection of samples. Police and administrative teams are investigating the case.
