Lok Sabha adjourned till 2 PM amid uproar over alleged police action during NEET protests

Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2:00 PM following opposition uproar over several issues, including alleged police action during students’ protests over the NEET issue. When the Lok Sabha assembled at 11 AM, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tried to take up the Question Hour, but the opposition members raised the issue of alleged police action during students’ protests and alleged anomalies in Ayodhya Ram Mandir donations.

 

Mr Birla said today the country is celebrating International Youth Day. He said, the youth of the country have made a distinct mark in several fields, including education, science, space, science and technology, and entrepreneurship. The Speaker said that India is earning recognition across the world due to the capabilities of country’s youth. He added that the youth of the country also want discussions on issues concerning them.

The Speaker appealed to all the opposition members to allow the House to function. He said that there may be differences over policies and opinion, but the people of the country want to see Parliament functioning.

 

Mr Birla said that the government has also agreed to the demand of opposition and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to make his statement. He said both the treasury benches and the opposition should work towards building consensus and engage in dialogue.

 

The Speaker urged the opposition members not to undermine the dignity of Parliament and allow the House to take up Question Hour but the opposition was on their feet pressing their demand. However, due to continuous uproar by the opposition members, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2:00 PM.
