In Assam, continuous rainfall has triggered landslides at several locations in Guwahati today. A major landslide occurred at Madhabdev Nagar in the Goshala area of Maligaon, causing severe damage to a residential house. According to reports, soil and trees from a nearby hillside came crashing down on the house. Four persons were injured in the incident and have been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Landslides have also been reported at several locations along the road leading to the Kamakhya Temple, affecting vehicular movement in the area.
In view of the continuing rainfall and recurring landslide incidents, the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable hilly areas, particularly around Maligaon, Pandu and Kamakhya. Authorities have also cautioned that traffic movement towards the Kamakhya Temple may be regulated to ensure public safety.
