In Ladakh, Ashura-e-Hussaini, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala, was observed across Kargil district with deep reverence, devotion and mourning. Thousands of mourners from different villages and localities participated in the Ashura processions. The mourners marched through designated routes while reciting elegies and paying tribute to the sacrifices rendered by Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his loyal companions for the preservation of the true values of Islam. Religious scholars addressing the gatherings highlighted the universal message of Karbala, emphasizing justice, truth, sacrifice, patience and resistance against oppression.
