Khet Bachao Abhiyan  begins with aim to restrict use of chemical fertilisers

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign at Ramsia village in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. The campaign will be operational for one month. It is aimed at protecting farmland and encourage scientific farming among farmers. Addressing farmers at the event, Mr. Chouhan said, the Khet Bachao Abhiyan is meant for protecting soil and farmlands. He urged the farmers to restrict the use of chemical fertiliser.
Agriculture universities, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and elected representatives will take part in this campaign. Farmers will be given information on soil testing, Soil Health Cards, natural farming, balanced use of fertilisers and water conservation techniques. They will also be taught about identifying fake fertilisers, seeds and pesticides. During the campaign, farmers will also get help in accessing government schemes. These include the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Crop Insurance Scheme, Kisan Credit Card and farm mechanisation programmes.
