Khelo India Dialogue programmes held in various locations across Mizoram

Khelo India Dialogue programmes were held in various locations across Mizoram to encourage students and young athletes to pursue sports and improve their performance in line with changing times. As part of the initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Khelo India Dialogue through video conferencing yesterday, outlining ways in which sports could contribute to the country’s development.

Prime Minister Modi said sports should not be viewed merely in terms of winning medals but also as a means of building a stronger and more united India. He stressed the importance of regular physical exercise and urged participants to maintain a healthy mind and practise self-discipline. In Aizawl, the NSS Unit of Government Aizawl North College organised a programme where resource person Dr T. Lalremruata highlighted the importance of teamwork, unity and self-discipline in sports. A similar programme was held at Government Champhai College, where NSS Programme Officer Lalventluanga spoke about various opportunities for the development of students and athletes and interacted with the participants.

In Hnahthial, the programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School with the assistance of Khelo India Judo Instructor Zomuansanga. A total of 127 students, including 67 boys and 60 girls, took part in the event. At Government Saitual College, Khelo India Saitual District Representative Laltleipuia said children were being trained and encouraged to pursue sports under the Khelo India initiative. He said football and wrestling training for children was also being conducted intensively in Saitual district under the programme.
