In Keralam, the hill shrine of Sabari Mala opened this evening for the monthly pujas of the Malayalam month of Karkidakam, witnessing a massive rush of pilgrims from the very first day. The sanctum sanctorum was opened at 5:00 PM by Head Priest in the presence of Chief Priest, who then lit the ceremonial lamp. No special rituals or pujas were performed today. A heavy influx of devotees, including a significant number from neighboring states, has been reported at the Sannidhanam.
Special rituals and regular pujas will commence at 5:00 AM tomorrow, the first day of Karkidakam and will continue until the temple closes on July 21.
