In Thiruvananthapuram, the State Government has announced an ex gratia payment of five lakh rupees to the families of those who lost their lives in the Wayanad landslide in Keralam. Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan said that work on the Wayanad tunnel will resume only after a detailed inquiry.

Two NDRF teams are still at the accident site. Five people remain missing, and search operations are continuing, the Chief Minister said in Thiruvananthapuram. The Chief Minister also said that there had been a serious lapse in the removal of soil from the site before the accident.
