Keir Starmer has delivered his final address as Britain’s Prime Minister, declaring that his work is done. Speaking to the media ahead travelling to Buckingham Palace to meet King Charles III and formally tender his resignation, Starmer said he was handing over the baton to Andy Burnham, adding that the Labour leader has his full support.
Starmer is currently serving in the role of caretaker Prime Minister after he announced his resignation amid growing internal pressure from his own party.
Starmer endorsed Andy Burnham as his successor. Burnham is expected to be invited by the King to form a new government before delivering his first speech as Prime Minister from 10 Downing Street.
