In Ladakh, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today flagged off a Mega Padyatra under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan as part of the Union Territory-wide Drug Awareness Campaign. The Padyatra, organised under the theme “Walk for a Drug-Free and Greener Ladakh,” commenced from the Old Taxi Stand, Kargil and culminated at Fatima Chowk.

 

Participants raised awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and called for collective efforts to protect the younger generation from substance abuse. At Fatima Chowk, participants took a pledge to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthy, responsible and drug-free society. A signature campaign was also organised as part of the awareness initiative.

 

Member of Parliament from Ladakh Haneefa Jan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav, ADDC Ghulam Mohd, ADC Shabbir Hussain, senior district officers, officials from various departments and a large number of students participated in the Padyatra.

 

The campaign also highlighted the importance of healthy lifestyles, environmental consciousness and greater participation of youth and the wider community in achieving the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
