J&K: security forces resume operation against terrorists in Kokernag

In J&K, security forces today resumed the operation against terrorists in the Kokernag area of the Anantnag district. Kashmir Zone Police said in a social media post that two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists including Uzair Khan have been encircled. An Indian Army Colonel commanding a Rashtriya Rifles Unit along with a Major and a Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed in a gunfight with terrorists yesterday.
 
In a separate incident, two terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in the Narla area of Rajouri on Tuesday. One soldier of 63 Rashtriya Rifles made the supreme sacrifice in the gunfight and three soldiers were injured, along with an SPO. A six-year-old Army dog (female labrador) also laid down her life shielding her handler during the encounter. Security forces have recovered a large quantity of warlike stores, including foreign-made medicines, during a search amid the encounter.
