In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces today killed one terrorist in an encounter in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district. A spokesman of Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said the operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of the terrorists in the area. The spokesman said troops observed suspicious activity in the area and after a brief search, the hiding terrorist opened fire on the security forces, triggering a gunfight.
He added that during the operation, one terrorist was neutralised and an AK rifle along with other war-like stores was recovered from the spot. The search operation was on in the area when last reports came in.
