J&K: security forces continue searches for militants at Gunda Khwas and Koteranka belt

In Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces continued searches for the militants at Gunda Khwas and surrounding areas in Koteranka belt of Budhal tehsil of Rajouri district for second consecutive day yesterday. Body of a slain terrorist, eliminated by the troops on Saturday, was recovered yesterday. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the teams of Army, CRPF, SOG and Police also recovered one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, two pistols with magazines, four hand grenades, one bag, Pakistan-made clothes and medicines and some other items from the possession of slain terrorist.

However the identity of the terrorist hasn’t been established but recovery of Pakistan-made items from his possession indicated that he could be a foreign terrorist. Addressing a press conference at Rajouri last evening, the Additional DGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh said about three groups of terrorists, each comprising two to three ultras, are operating in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The ADGP said the security forces are determined to wipe out terrorism from the region and the security agencies are making twice the effort to thwart the attempts to push militants from across the border.
