In Jammu and Kashmir, the Jal Shakti Department has finalised a comprehensive Implementation and Reform Plan under the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 action plan, aimed at ensuring reliable and quality drinking water for rural households. The plan lays down timelines for the completion of ongoing and new water supply schemes. It also focuses on strengthening existing infrastructure through retrofitting.
The department has released 128 crore rupees to the Public Health Engineering divisions, including 116 crore rupees as the Central share and 12 crore rupees as the Union Territory share. The plan also places emphasis on water quality, sustainability of water sources, proper maintenance and improved service delivery under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. The initiative is aimed at strengthening rural water supply infrastructure and ensuring more reliable drinking water services for people across Jammu and Kashmir.
