The Union Home Ministry has said that the neutralization of senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Musa, alias Asif Fauji, by Indian security forces is a major blow to the LeT network in Jammu and Kashmir. He was neutralized at Gurwatkalan, under the Khansahib Police Station in Budgam district.

The Ministry said that with Musa’s neutralization, all four senior LeT commanders who had been operating in Jammu and Kashmir since 2022 have now been neutralized.

The other three members of the group were neutralized by security forces in separate encounters, Junaid Bhat in 2024, Suleman in 2025 and Yasir in September this year. The Ministry said that over the past few years, all security agencies, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army and the Central Armed Police Forces, have been conducting counter-terrorism operations in close coordination.
