The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority facilitated the first export shipment of premium Areko cherries and Scentrose plums from Jammu and Kashmir to the UAE. This marked a significant milestone for the Union Territory’s horticulture sector. The development highlighted the growing international demand for premium Indian fruits. The Union Territory exported more than six lakh 37 thousand metric tonnes of fruit during 2024-25, generating a turnover exceeding over three thousand one hundred crore rupees.
