J&K border residents support crackdown on illegal structures in 15-km border belt

In Jammu and Kashmir, residents living along the International Border in Jammu have welcomed the Centre’s decision to remove illegal structures and unauthorised activities within a 15-kilometre belt of the border. The decision was taken by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a recent high-level security review meeting.

People from border areas, including Arnia, R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh, have expressed support for the move, saying that any activity posing a threat to national security must be dealt with firmly. They noted that border regions remain vulnerable to cross-border threats and attempts by anti-national elements to misuse illegal structures and unauthorised networks.

Residents said strong action against such activities is essential for the safety and security of people living in frontier areas. They added that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening border security and maintaining peace in sensitive regions. They also expressed hope that the measure will be implemented effectively.
