J&K: Assembly election to be held in 3 phases from September 18

In Jammu and Kashmir, the much-awaited assembly election will be held in three phases where the process of nominations starts from the 20th of this month while the results will be declared on 4th October.

 

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly has 90 seats. Voting will be held for 24 seats in districts Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts in the first phase on 18the September.

 

Another 26 seats of Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam, Poonch, Reasi and Rajouri districts will vote in the second phase on 25th September. The final phase, on October 1st, will see voting in 40 seats of Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.

 

All political parties including BJP, Congress, National Conference, PDP, Apni Party, Democratic Progressive Azad Party and CPI (M) and general people have welcomed the announcement of assembly poll schedule.

 

Out of the total 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, 74 are general, seven are reserved for SC candidates and nine are reserved for ST candidates.

 

Out of the total 87 lakh nine thousand voters in Jammu and Kashmir, 44 lakhs and 46 thousands are males and 42 lakhs and 62 thousands are females.

 

3.71 lakh are first-time voters and 20.7 lakh are young voters. However, the final voter list will be published on 20th of this month.
