J&K: 5 people killed in road accident in Kishtwar district

 
In Jammu and Kashmir, five people were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled into the Chenab River in the Dachhan area of Kishtwar district today. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the vehicle was travelling from Yainwan, Dangdaroo, towards Sounder.  A police team, along with local residents, soon reached the spot and launched rescue and recovery operations. Five bodies have been recovered from the accident site, while the exact number of people travelling in the vehicle remains unclear.
 
DC Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma said all the deceased persons were workers at Pakal Dul project in Dungdoru. Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigations. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the tragic accident.  The LG has directed the District Administration and senior officials to ensure that immediate assistance is provided to the affected families and all those impacted by the tragedy. The Chief Minister has also directed the District Administration Kishtwar and senior officials to ensure that immediate assistance and all necessary support are provided to those affected by the accident.
