On the occasion of Hul Diwas, special programmes were organised today across Jharkhand, including the state capital Ranchi, to pay tribute to the heroes of the Hul Rebellion, Sidho-Kanho, Chand-Bhairav, and Phulo-Jhano. On the occasion, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar paid floral tributes at Lok Bhavan, while Chief Minister Hemant Soren offered tributes at Sidho-Kanho Udyan, describing the Hul Revolution as a glorious chapter in India’s freedom struggle and the sacrifice of its brave martyrs as a lasting source of inspiration.
The Chief Minister also distributed certificates of appreciation to blood donors at a blood donation camp organised at Sidho-Kanho Udyan. BJP State President Babulal Marandi also paid tribute at Sidho-Kanho Park in Ranchi and described the Hul movement as a historic people’s movement to protect ‘jal’, ‘jangal’, ‘zameen’ and tribal identity.
Thousands of people also paid homage to the martyrs of the Hul Revolution at the memorial site in Bhognadih and at Panchkatia in Sahibganj, where public representatives and devotees offered tributes at the historic site. In the sub-capital Dumka, public representatives, administrative officials and members of various social organisations also offered floral tributes at the statues of Sidho-Kanho and Phulo-Jhano, remembering their sacrifice and contribution.
