Jharkhand Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu passed away at Mercy Hospital in Giridih after suffering a heart attack. He reportedly complained of ill health late at night and was brought to the hospital at around 2 am, where he passed away at around 4 am.

The news of the minister’s demise has cast a pall of grief across Giridih and the entire state of Jharkhand, with a large number of supporters, party workers and well-wishers reaching the hospital. Chief Minister Hemant Soren described Sudivya Kumar Sonu’s demise as a personal loss and said that he had dedicated his life to the struggle for Jharkhand’s identity, rights and self-respect.
