Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss India’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka after failing to recover fully from a knee injury. The Sri Lanka series begins from 15th of this month in Galle.

 

The swelling in Cricketer’s knee seems to be more serious than it initially looked, and the Sports Science team at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence doesn’t want to rush the seasoned pacer to the grind of international cricket, keeping in mind a packed calendar ahead.

 

The 32-year-old had missed out on the third ODI against England at Lord’s after sustaining an impact injury. 

 

India are already dealing with several injury concerns, with Harshit Rana sidelined by a hamstring injury and Nitish Kumar Reddy due to a quadriceps injury. Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the first Test due to a hamstring injury, while Akash Deep remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from stress reactions in his back.

 

The opening Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the Galle International Stadium from 15th August, while the second Test is scheduled in Colombo from 23rd August. 

 

The series will form part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Led by Shubman Gill, India are currently fifth in the World Test Championship standings, having registered four wins and four losses in nine matches, with a Points Percentage (PCT) of 48.150.
