Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected US President Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza. Speaking at a cabinet meeting today, Prime Minister Netanyahu insisted that Israel will not withdraw its forces until Palestinian armed group Hamas is genuinely disarmed and it would continue to act against threats to Israeli forces and civilians. He said Israeli officials are now in discussion with US officials about how to move forward.
President Trump’s Board of Peace last month said that it had reached an agreement aimed at the complete disarmament of Hamas in Gaza. However, Hamas has said that surrendering its heavy weapons would depend on Israel ending all forms of aggression and withdrawing its forces from the territory. Despite an initial ceasefire agreement reached last October, Israel has continued to carry out strikes in Gaza.
